Make sure that the WHOIS Administrative Contact e-mail is valid for the Domain Name

When you have followed these steps, the transfer process can be started with the gaining registrar. The gaining registrar sends an email to the WHOIS Administrative Contact with instructions on approving the transfer. When you have approved the transfer, it takes normally 5 to 7 days to complete the transfer. Throughout this time, there can be no changes made to the Domain Name, including DNS server changes. If you want to change your DNS servers, please confirm the changes are in effect earlier to approving the transfer via the gaining registrar.
The following are common issues that can cause transfers to be delayed or failed:
The Domain Name has not been registered for 60 days - ICANN regulations state that a Domain Name cannot be transferred within 60 days of preliminary purchase, there is no way to bypass this regulation
The Authorization Code is denied - As Authorization Codes are random sets of numbers and letters, that are case sensitive, it may include characters that would be mistaken for other characters; we give advice to copy and paste the Authorization Code from the e-mail we send instead of typing it in the new registrar's system.
The Domain Name is expired and deactivated - While most expired domain names may be transferred, if the Domain Name has been deactivated, it will need to contact us to have the domain name reactivated.
Please call to transfer specialist at 1-800-200-7625 for support.
There is a 30 day transfer lock on the Domain Name - We put a high value on the security of our clients' accounts and domain names, so we have a process in place to lock the domain names in an account for 30 days when any of the following changes are made within 7 days of a password reset to help inhibit deceptive transfers. In the case when you have a transfer lock on your Domain Names, contact our transfer specialists with the Primary Contact for the Account at 1-800-200-7625 for help with having the lock reviewed for fast removal.

  • Primary Contact e-mail changes
  • The primary Contact name is changed
  • WHOIS Contact e-mail is changed
  • WHOIS Contact information is changed
  • User IDs are merged
  • Primary Contact is replaced

There may be some other situations where a Domain Name, or an entire account, may not be allowed to transfer. If you have any queries, you can always contact a transfer specialist at 1-800-200-7625 for further information.

Note: Weigh the following considerations for deciding whether to use the Auto Verification or Fax transfer method.
Auto verification includes approving one domain per approval email; Fax method involves assembling and faxing identity verification and a list of domains to transfer.

Auto verification is usually easier to transfer small numbers of domains (a dozen or so; more if you don't have proper access to a fax machine); Fax is easier to transfer larger numbers of domains.
Auto verification permits you to transfer domains with different Registrant and Admin contact information; Fax method needs the same Registrant and Admin contacts for all domains which listed in the transfer request.

If you wish to transfer a large number of domains, but in separate requests, ask Alphavbox's transfer experts to keep your proof of identity on file so you don't need to resubmit it with each transfer request.
Auto verification is the simplest method if you transfer from such registrar that does not list Registrant or Administrative email addresses.

Always use the Auto verification method for .uk and .ca names.

After submitting a transfer request, status messages help you track progress and correct all problems if occur.
